Western uses utility management to identify privately-owned infrastructure - including gas, electrical, water, steam and sewer lines - on client property. After locating buried infrastructure, we provide clients with an easy-to-understand geo-referenced map captured using aerial photography. For the duration of the client contract, Western will return to the site to monitor utilities for possible leaks and, if leaks are identified, develop a course of action. Western will also provide assistance in the event of emergencies to keep our clients’ buried facilities safe.
Utility management services we provide include:
- Gas leak survey
- Utility locating
- Cathodic protection readings
- Utility mapping

Training qualifications
All utility locators have completed an intensive in-house training program designed by professionals with more than 30 years of utility locating experience.
Mapping
Western has established the best practice of using aerial photography provided by HAWK, which allows for clear records of utility locates to deliver an accurate representation of buried utilities. These records have many uses, such as supporting ongoing projects that require accurate locations of underground utilities; planning future projects; and providing court-ready records in case of emergency, among others.
