Western Utility Locating

Western Locates uses advanced electromagnetic (EM) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technologies to detect gas, hydro, telephone, fibre optic, water, cablevision and sewer/drainage lines, as well as buried storage tanks and other underground structures. Western also uses camera rodding to produce video recordings of sanitary, storm piping, disconnected water or gas piping and empty conduit; the camera is equipped with sonde for pinpointing conductive service.

Western works with major construction, engineering and environmental companies on large-scale projects, and also completes minor projects for small businesses and residences. HAWK photo documentation

Western has adopted the best practice of documenting all of our utility locates using HAWK aerial photograph technologies. All jobs are reviewed by our Quality Control Manager to ensure we are doing everything in our power to protect against damages. If your business is under contract, you can view this documentation at your convenience.

Emergency response

Western will arrive on-site as soon as possible to help with emergency jobs or natural disasters.

Training qualifications

All utility locators have completed an intensive in-house training program designed by professionals with 80 years combined utility locating experience. Western has put into place an apprenticeship program for all new locators to ensure quality remains consistent and our extensive knowledge is passed to the next generation.
